Pune: Massive Police Force Deployed for Palkhi Festival in Pimpri-Chinchwad; Security, Traffic Plans Finalised

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 17th June 2025: Pimpri-Chinchwad is set for heightened security as 4,000 police personnel will be deployed for the annual Palkhi festival, which sees the departure of Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi from Dehu on 18th June and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi from Alandi on 19th June. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) has meticulously planned security arrangements to ensure the safety of devotees and the smooth conduct of the procession.

With concerns over theft and other criminal activities during the large gatherings, Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey reviewed the security, traffic, parking, crowd management, and safety measures for the Palkhi event on Monday. Following the review, the Commissioner issued detailed instructions to officers for effective implementation.

The security deployment for the Palkhi festival includes one Joint Commissioner of Police, one Additional Commissioner, six Deputy Commissioners, 11 Assistant Commissioners, 61 Police Inspectors, 172 Assistant/Sub-Inspectors, 2,634 constables, 800 Home Guards, three SRPF companies, four BDDS squads, three RCP units, and 12 striking squads.
