Pune: MCOCA Invoked Against Yerwada Gang Spreading Terror Through Vehicle Vandalism

Yerwada, 8th January 2024: In a decisive move, the Pune police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against Junaid Sheikh and his gang, notorious for spreading terror by vandalizing vehicles in the Laxmi Nagar area of Yerwada. The gang’s actions had created panic among citizens, leading to stringent legal measures.

Junaid Ejaz Sheikh, the leader of the gang, along with his four accomplices, Avinash alias Sukya Sanjay Shinde, Mangesh alias Ghulya Deepak Kalokhe, Nikhil alias Body Jagannath Shinde, and another unnamed associate, were involved in the criminal activities that prompted the authorities to take action under MCOCA.

The police have successfully arrested Junaid Sheikh, Avinash Shinde, and Mangesh Kalokhe in connection with the vehicle vandalism incidents. The names of Nikhil Shinde and his associate have also been linked to criminal activities, leading to the application of MCOCA against the five individuals.

The gang, primarily operating in the Laxmi Nagar area of Yerwada, had engaged in acts of vandalism, spreading fear and panic among the residents. The group’s activities, which included stopping and damaging vehicles, prompted swift and decisive action from law enforcement.
