Pune, 24th September 2021: Swachh Pune Swachh Bharat, a social group is spearheading the cleanliness movement in the city of Pune since October 2014. In the past seven years barring last year due to covid restrictions, the group has tried to strengthen the Swachh cause by various means.

Without missing out on even a single week the group has made a positive impact on the city landscape, through cleanliness, beautification and awareness drives.

From the past four years cleaning Kawadipat after monsoon season has become an annual mega drive to save the ecology of the place known for its natural beauty and a transit halt for migratory birds.

Wg Cdr Puneet Sharma, the founder Swachh Pune Swachh Bharat, has urged Puneites to change their habit of dumping trash in the Mula Mutha river. It is seriously impacting the ecology thereby reducing the number of bird species visiting the place.

A mega drive of cleanup was conducted on Saturday the 18 Sep 2021. The quantum of garbage in terms of plastic, thermocoal, glass bottles, slippers and cloths is huge and requires mammoth effort in the next couple of weeks.

In pursuit to achieve this objective, another mega cleanup drive is planned for 26 September from 7 am to 9 am.

Wg Cdr Sharma has sent an invite to all social groups of the city to come forward and strengthen the cause of clean Kawadipat. Adar Poonawala Clean City, WORK, Pune Cycling Buddies, Cycling Awareness Pune, Indo Athletic Society, Bee The Lead and PMC are taking part in this mega campaign. Students taking part would be awarded a certificate of participation.
