Pune : Men Pretending To be Police Officials Run Away With $4000 From Yemeni National

Kondhwa 19th Sept 2023: A 47-year-old from Yeman had lodged a complaint with Pune City Police against two unidentified men for stealing his foreign currency worth $4,000. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.

According to the complaint registered with the police, the incident took place near Kausar Baug Masjid in Kondhwa at around 6:30 pm September 11 when the accused was returning home. Two men came to him and asked him to show the foreign currency by showing their fake ID cards pretending to be police officials. The accused spoke with the complainant in Arabic language as he handed over cash to them, then fled from the spot before he could react.

The accused reached out to police with the help of local friends and a case under sections 420, 406, 419, 179 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered. The police are investigating further in the matter.
