Pune Metro: 150m Skywalk Linking Lines 1 and 3 Nears Completion, To be Ready by August-End
Pune, 10th August 2026: The work on a 150-metre skywalk connecting the Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar (Line 3) and Swargate-Pimpri Chinchwad (Line 1) metro corridors near the Kamgar Putla at Shivajinagar has entered its final stage.
The skywalk, being constructed at a cost of around Rs 5.5 crore, is expected to be completed by the end of August. It will directly connect the concourse areas of the two metro stations, allowing commuters to switch between the two lines without exiting the station or crossing busy roads.
The facility is expected to benefit commuters travelling towards the Hinjawadi IT hub as well as those travelling between Pimpri-Chinchwad and Swargate, reducing interchange time and easing the need to navigate road traffic.
The skywalk will be opened to passengers after inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) and the commissioning of the Line 3 station.
“Pune Metro is committed to making travel smoother and faster for commuters. The 150-metre skywalk connecting the two metro corridors at Shivajinagar is in its final stage and is expected to be completed by the end of August. Since it will connect the paid areas of the two stations, commuters will be able to change metro lines without exiting the station. The skywalk will be opened for passengers after the necessary inspection and once the Line 3 station becomes operational,” said Chandrashekhar Tambvekar, additional general manager, MahaMetro.
