Pune, 18th June 2024: Commuters relying on Pune Metro services were left stranded this morning as the metro’s online ticketing system suffered a major outage. Reports flooded in from frustrated passengers who found themselves unable to retrieve tickets after payments were deducted from their accounts. The issue, which affected the metro’s official app, WhatsApp booking service, and ticket booths at stations, prompted chaotic scenes at various stops across the city.

Eyewitnesses described long queues and mounting frustration among passengers, many of whom had opted for online booking to avoid physical contact during the ongoing pandemic. With the system down, the only viable options for ticket purchase were cash counters and transactions through HDFC cards.

Sandesh Sawant, a commuter caught up in the chaos at Pune Railway Station Metro Stop, expressed his dismay, stating, “No one is getting a proper solution. Hundreds of people have already booked tickets online via WhatsApp and are seeking answers. Authorities are simply suggesting booking paper-based tickets from counters.”
