Pune Metro From Khadakwasla To Kharadi, Expected Cost To Be Rs 8565 Crores

Pune, 28th September 2022: A detailed project report (DPR) of 25 km distance from Khadakwasla to Kharadi by Mahametro has been submitted to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Mahametro has informed that the cost of this route will be around Rs 8,565 crores. It will be a separate route from Khadakwasla to Swargate-Hadapsar and Kharadi and there will be 22 stations on this route.
“Earlier this line was to be jointly operated by Metro and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). However, in the Pune Unified Urban Transport Authority (PUMTA) meeting, it was recommended to do this separate route. Accordingly, Mahametro has prepared this Detailed Project Report (DPR),” Mahametro Managing Director Atul Gadgil informed.
Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar along with officials of Mahametro and Municipal Corporation were present for the meeting. Meanwhile, Gadgil explained that this is a draft plan and after suggesting changes from the municipal administration, the final plan will be sent to the Maharashtra state government and the central government for approval.
The route will be Khadakwasla-Sinhgad road-Swargate-Shankarsheth road-Ram Manohar Lohia Udyan-Mundhwa Chowk-Kharadi. The entire route is going to be elevated. This route will proceed along the main Sinhagad road from opposite Sarasbaug to opposite Ganesh Kalakrida Manch via Jedhe Chowk and Shankarsheth road.
There will be a total of 22 stations on this route and maximum government land will be acquired for the stations as well as the metro route. Also, where roads are less wide. Gadgil explained that the pillar will be erected in such a way that the road traffic will not be obstructed at that place.
The stations will be at Khadakwasla, Dalvewadi, Nanded City, Dhairi Phata, Manikbagh, Hingane Chowk, Rajaram bridge, P L Deshpande Park, Dandekar bridge, Swargate, Seven Loves Chowk, Pune Cantonment, Race Course, Fatimanagar, Ramtekdi, Hadapsar, Magarpatta South, Magarpatta Main, Magarpatta North, Hadapsar Railway Station, Sainath Nagar and Kharadi Chowk.
There will be a station in front of Nehru Stadium at Swargate and the passengers will be able to go to Pimpri-Chinchwad and Katraj by Swargate underground metro, and the multimodal hub parking lot at Swargate can be used for this purpose.
