Pune, 23rd March 2023: The Pune Metro Line 3 project, which connects Hinjewadi’s IT hub to Shivajinagar’s central hub, has made significant progress along its 23.3 kilometer route. The construction of piers along the route is also progressing rapidly. Today, the 400th pier was erected at proposed station number 21 on Ganeshkhind road, marking a significant milestone for the project. It is worth noting that after the 300th pier was erected in February 2023 at Balewadi, the developers of the Pune Metro Line 3 were able to set a new record by completing the erection of another 100 piers in just 30 days.

The Tata Group and PMRDA are jointly undertaking the work on the Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar route for the Pune Metro Line 3 project. The project is being implemented by Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) company established by the Tata Group for this purpose.

The piers for the Pune Metro Line 3 have a circular shape with a diameter of 2000 mm and are being built to comply with the design parameters of the metro rail system. The construction of the piers is being carried out with strict adherence to all construction safety parameters set out in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) design and construction manual.

According to Alok Kapoor, the CEO of Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd., the developers are working hard to meet the project deadline by ensuring fast progress at various locations along the Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar stretch.
The construction of the Pune Metro Line 3 project between Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar is aimed at providing easy, convenient, and affordable public transportation options. The Tata Group is committed to ensuring quality and safety at all stages of the project, which was undertaken for the convenience of citizens.

The Pune Metro Line 3 is an elevated Metro rail project spanning approximately 23 kilometers that connects the IT hub of Hinjewadi to the central business district of Shivajinagar. The project is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project awarded by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to a consortium consisting of Tata Group’s TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited (TUTPL) and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH. The project will be developed and operated on a Design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) basis by Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL), an SPV, for a concession period of 35 years, including the construction period.
