Pune, 21st March 2025: As part of the second phase of the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Metro project, efforts are being accelerated to construct state-of-the-art stations on the new metro corridors. To ensure modern and efficient designs, private companies will be appointed as ‘Design Advisory Committees’ for the Kharadi to Khadakwasla and Nal Stop to Manik Baug metro lines. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MahaMetro) has initiated the tendering process for this purpose.

While the first phase of Pune’s metro expansion is in its final stages, the second phase includes the proposal of five new metro routes. Among these, the Kharadi-Swargate-Hadapsar-Khadakwasla route spans 25.51 km with 22 stations, whereas the Nal Stop to Warje-Manik Baug corridor covers 6.12 km with six stations.

To ensure that the station designs align with local geographical and infrastructural conditions, MahaMetro has invited tenders to appoint a private design advisory committee for these projects.

MahaMetro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar stated,
“MahaMetro will collaborate with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to ensure seamless planning of metro stations. The tender process for station design will be conducted early to facilitate the development of artistic and commuter-friendly station infrastructure that meets modern urban mobility needs.”
