Pune, 8th September 2021: The traditional Ganeshotsav immersion procession in the city will be hampered due to the Pune Metro route passing over the bridge (Lakdi Pul) connecting Deccan to Alka Chowk. Therefore, Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP corporators staged an agitation at the general body meeting of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Mayor Murlidhar Mohol has ordered that work on the bridge will be stopped and soon a meeting with MahaMetro MD Brijesh Dixit will be held to find a solution.
For the past two days, activists and Ganesh mandals office bearers have been writing to Pune Metro, the mayor and the administration to change the design of the flyover. They believe that the immersion procession vehicles will not pass under this flyover.
Therefore, Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP corporators agitated by shouting Ganpati Bappa Morya in the general body meeting of PMC.
Shiv Sena group leader Prithviraj Sutar, corporator Vishal Dhanwade, Bala Oswal, Shweta Chavan, Congress group leader Aba Bagul, Leader of Opposition Deepali Dhumal, NCP corporator Deepak Mankar, Subhash Jagtap, Prashant Jagtap, Datta Dhankavade, Vishal Tambe, Pradeep Gaikwad, Congress corporator Arvind Shinde and Ravindra. Dhangekar and others had participated in the agitation.
