Pune, 13th August 2025: Commuters using Pune Metro can expect shorter wait times from August 15, as train services on both corridors will run at a six-minute frequency during peak hours. The change will add 64 extra trips per day, taking the total daily trips from 490 to 554.

Pune Metro’s Phase I network covers 33.2 km across the PCMC–Swargate and Vanaz–Ramwadi routes, with 27.2 km elevated and 6 km underground. Key underground stations include Shivajinagar, District Court, Kasba Peth, Mandai, and Swargate. The fully operational corridor currently serves over two lakh passengers daily.

Under the new schedule, trains will operate every six minutes between 8 am and 11 am, and again from 4 pm to 8 pm. Non-peak hour frequency will remain unchanged at 10 minutes.

This upgrade follows two months of trials to ensure the system could handle reduced headway. Officials said the move will particularly benefit commuters during the upcoming Ganpati festival, when ridership is expected to spike.

Maha Metro Managing Director said the change marks a 13 per cent increase in services. “The six-minute headway during peak hours will make metro travel faster and more convenient. With 64 additional trips, passengers will have smoother and more comfortable journeys,” he said.
