Pune: Students Encouraged to Become Ambassadors of the Indian Constitution
Hadapsar, 13th August 2025: Copies of the Constitution were distributed to students under a joint educational initiative by Vitthalrao Shivarkar Seva Pratishthan and the Late Dr. Tanaji Salve Social Foundation at Vitthalrao Shivarkar College, Hadapsar.
The program was graced by senior social activist and reformer Dr. Baba Adhav, former Maharashtra Minister of State Balasaheb Shivarkar, Principal of Savitribai Phule Pune University Dr. Nitin Ghorpade, Director of the University’s Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension Dr. Vilas Adhav, and Principal of Vizhar Mahavidyalaya Dr. Sanjeev Latte.
Introducing the program, Prof. Dr. Sangeeta Salve explained the objectives of the Tanaji Salve Social Foundation and praised the contributions of Dr. Baba Adhav.
In his address, former Minister Shri Balasaheb Shivarkar recalled Dr. Adhav’s role in the Goa Liberation Struggle and the Maharashtra Liberation Struggle, urging students to draw inspiration from his lifelong commitment to social reform.
Speaking to the students, Dr. Baba Adhav highlighted their responsibilities as future leaders and appealed to them to uphold and practice the values of the Constitution. He also led the students in reciting the ‘Prayer of Truth.’
Presiding over the program, Dr. Vilas Adhav reflected on the thoughts of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, describing him as more than a jurist or politician—a revolutionary mind who transformed personal pain into a mission for justice and equality. “When silence was common, he chose to speak for equality,” Dr. Adhav said.
As part of the Constitution Literacy Program, copies of the Constitution were distributed to all students present. The program was introduced by Dr. Sangeeta Salve, moderated by Dr. Savita Kulkarni and Dr. Minal Bhosale, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Principal Evele.
