Pune, 1st November 2025: A 42-year-old man allegedly ended his life by hanging himself after making a video call to his sister and informing her about ongoing disputes with his wife and daughters. The incident occurred on October 24 at around 1.30 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Nitin Ashok Salve (resident of Laxmi Nagar, Parvati), who worked as a senior clerk with the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) in Mumbai. His sister, Poonam Umesh Kamble (40, resident of Balaji Nagar, Dhankawadi), lodged a complaint at the Parvati Police Station.

Based on her complaint, the police have registered a case against Salve’s wife, Aarti Nitin Salve (38), and their two daughters, aged 18 and 20, on charges of abetment to suicide.

According to the police, Nitin Salve lived with his wife and daughters in the Parvati area, and frequent quarrels had reportedly been taking place over domestic issues. On the day of the incident, Salve made a video call to his sister, telling her that he was distressed by the constant arguments and was taking the extreme step. Shortly after the call, he allegedly hanged himself at his residence.

Following his cremation, Poonam Kamble approached the police, alleging that her brother was driven to suicide due to the behaviour and mental harassment caused by his wife and daughters.

A case has been registered under relevant sections for abetment of suicide, and Police Sub-Inspector Basavaraj Mali from Parvati Police Station is conducting further investigation.
