Pune: Midnight Rampage in Dhankawadi; Over 20 Vehicles Vandalized, Two Residents Injured
Dhankawadi, 23rd July 2025: A group of unidentified miscreants vandalized over 20 vehicles, including rickshaws, cars, and school buses in Dhankawadi around midnight today. Two citizens who tried to intervene were assaulted and hospitalized.
The incident occurred between 11:45 pm and 1:00 am on July 23, with the vandals reportedly wreaking havoc for nearly two hours across multiple residential pockets such as Keshav Complex, Saraswati Chowk, and Navnath Nagar.
According to preliminary information from Sahakar Nagar police, the attackers smashed windows of at least 15 auto-rickshaws, 3 private cars, 2 school buses, and 1 Piaggio tempo. The destruction has resulted in substantial damage and sparked panic among residents.
“Three unknown individuals went on a rampage in various areas, damaging parked vehicles. When two residents tried to stop them, they were assaulted and sustained injuries. Both have been admitted to the hospital,” said a senior police officer.
Local police along with the Detection Branch (DB) have launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being reviewed to identify the accused. A case is being registered against the unknown assailants.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be established, and police have appealed to residents to come forward with any information that might aid the investigation.
