Pune: Military Intelligence Tip Leads to MD Drug, Ganja Bust in Kondhwa, Two Arrested

Kondhwa, 19th July 2025: In a coordinated operation on Friday evening, the Military Intelligence (MI) unit of the Army’s Southern Command and Pune City Police’s Crime Branch Anti-Narcotic Cell – 1 apprehended two civilians in Kondhwa for possession of illegal narcotics.
The operation followed a specific input received from the MI unit, which identified Abhinav Pradeep Gupta (22), a resident of Shivne, and Irshad Iftikar Sheikh (27), a resident of Kondhwa, as suspects involved in drug trafficking activities.
After verifying the intelligence and conducting surveillance, a joint team of MI and Anti-Narcotic Cell officials intercepted the accused in Kondhwa on Friday evening.
Seized Items:
From the duo’s possession, the following items were recovered:
10.21 grams of MD (Mephedrone) worth approximately ₹2,04,200
8.32 grams of OG (high-grade marijuana) valued at ₹83,000
41 grams of Ganja, worth about ₹820
One Baleno car (Reg No. MH 12 TD 5838)
Three mobile phones
Legal Action and Investigation
A case has been registered at Kondhwa Police Station, and further investigation is underway to trace the source of the drugs and determine if a larger network is involved.
The action was taken under the guidance of Additional CP (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh and DCP (Crime) Nikhil Pingle. The Crime Branch team included Assistant Police Inspector Anil Survase and police personnel Vishal Dalvi, Sachin Malve, Salve, Pravin Uttekar, , Suhas Dongre, Sandesh Kakde, Dattaram Jadhav, Maruti Pardhi and Akshay Shirke.
