Pune: Milk Prices to Rise by Rs 2/Litre from August 11 in Maharashtra

Pune, 8th August 2026: Milk prices in Maharashtra are set to rise by Rs 2 per litre from August 11, with the Milk Producers and Processing Entrepreneurs Welfare Association citing a sharp increase in production, transportation and packaging costs.

The price of cow milk will increase from Rs 60 to Rs 62 per litre, while buffalo milk will cost Rs 78 instead of Rs 76 per litre. Prices of various dairy products are also expected to rise by up to 10 per cent.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the association’s members held at the Pune District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd (Katraj Dairy) and chaired by association president Gopalrao Mhaske.

The association said diesel prices have increased by around Rs 10 per litre, sugar prices by Rs 12 per kg and packaging costs by more than 30 per cent. Milk procurement prices have also gone up, pushing up the overall cost of dairy operations and putting financial pressure on milk producers.

The association said the hike was necessary to offset the rising input costs and ensure that milk producers receive fair returns for their produce. Around 20 representatives of major cooperative and private milk unions attended the meeting.

During the meeting, newly elected chairman of the Pune District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union, Arun Sitaram Chambhare, was felicitated. The association also thanked MLA Vikram Pachpute for his contribution to the process of banning analogue paneer.
