Pune: Minor Girl Assaulted on Way to School in Wagholi; Suspect Arrested
Wagholi, 24th March 2025: In a horrific incident, a minor girl was sexually assaulted while on her way to school in Wagholi, Pune. The victim, a fourth-grade student, was raped by a 27-year-old man around 8 a.m. on Monday. Police have arrested the accused following the assault.
The incident came to light after local residents noticed the girl standing on the road, crying. Concerned passersby alerted the police, who responded promptly.
According to police reports, the victim lives with her family within the jurisdiction of Wagholi Police Station. She left home around 7 a.m. to walk to school, following her usual route, which passes by a flour mill where the accused is employed. On Monday morning, the man intercepted the girl, luring her with food before taking her into the mill and assaulting her.
After the ordeal, the girl emerged from the mill and stood on the road, visibly distressed. Local residents approached her, offering comfort, and asked why she was crying. She then recounted the traumatic event. Citizens immediately contacted the police control room to report the incident. Acting swiftly, cops arrived at the scene, arrested the accused, and registered a case against him.
