Pune: Minor Girl Molested By Police Constable, Case Registered
Junnar 4th Oct 2023: In a shocking incident, a constable attached with the Otur Police Station has been arrested by the Narayangaon Police under charges of molestation and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The accused constable identified as Narayan Bhausaheb Birdhe (38), a resident of Alephata, Junnar was apprehended in connection with the incident.
According to officials, Birdhe followed the minor girl aged 10 years on her way home from school. He allegedly stopped her near her house on Kolhemala-Yedgaon Road in Otur. He offered to give her Rs 100 and asked her to sit on his bike but when he resisted the accused humiliated and molested her.
The incident came to light after the girl reached home and shared the incident with her grandmother. The family then reported the matter to the local police and a case was registered. The police officials checked the CCTV footage installed in the area and the accused was nabbed after verifying the matter. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
