Pune: Missing Engineering Student Found Dead in Mulshi Dam Backwaters
Pune, 2nd February 2024: A final-year engineering student from a private college in Tathawade, who had been missing since Monday, was tragically discovered deceased in the backwaters of Mulshi dam at Chachavali village on Wednesday afternoon.
The Paud police, aided by Pramod Balkawade and his team from Mulshi Disaster Management, successfully recovered the student’s body and subsequently sent it for post-mortem examination. Investigating officer Sachin Shinde of the Paud police revealed that on Monday (Jan 29), the victim had attended college but failed to return home.
“He was unresponsive to calls from his parents, who were in their native place in the Dharashiv district,” Shinde stated.
Upon discovering that the last location of the student’s cellphone was Chachavali in Mulshi, the parents visited the village on Tuesday (Jan 30) and located his motorcycle, clothes, shoes, and bag near the backwaters.
Pramod Balkawade, part of the Mulshi Disaster Management team, reported that despite searches until 9 pm on Tuesday proving futile, efforts were resumed on Wednesday. It was during these renewed searches that the unfortunate discovery of the body was made in the backwaters in the afternoon.
