Nagpur, 11th December 2023: In the wake of a tragic fire incident at a Sparkling Candle Company in Jyotiba Nagar, Talawade, Pimpri-Chinchwad, where nine workers lost their lives, MLA Mahesh Landge has raised a crucial demand during the ongoing winter session of the Maharashtra State Legislature in Nagpur. MLA Landge emphasized the urgent need for a hospital with a burn ward in Pimpri-Chinchwad, an industrial city with a population exceeding 30 lakhs.

While Pimpri-Chinchwad boasts commercial, residential, and industrial establishments, the absence of a dedicated burn ward or hospital poses a significant challenge in the event of fire accidents. MLA Landge highlighted the importance of immediate treatment for burn victims and urged the Maharashtra State Government to instruct the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Administration (PCMC) to undertake the construction of a burn hospital or ward.

Expressing gratitude for the prompt response to the Talawade fire incident, MLA Landge acknowledged Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s announcement of immediate financial assistance to the relatives of the deceased. The tragic incident prompted discussions in the legislative hall, emphasizing the need for preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future.

In previous fire incidents, victims from Pimpri-Chinchwad had to be admitted to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune for treatment due to the absence of a dedicated burn ward or facility in the city. Recognizing the critical gap in burn treatment infrastructure, MLA Landge urged proactive measures to establish modern burn ward facilities or burn hospitals, equipped with advanced treatment methods.

MLA Landge has conveyed his demand to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, expressing confidence that the grand alliance government will take positive steps in response to the urgent need for burn treatment infrastructure in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
