Pune: MLA Sunil Tingre Hits Back at Sushma Andhare Over Porsche Accident Allegations
Pune, 18th November 2024: In a fiery response to Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) leader Sushma Andhare’s criticism, MLA Sunil Tingre has accused her of exploiting the tragic Porsche accident for political mileage during the assembly election campaign.
Tingre, who is contesting Maharashtra Assembly Elections from the Vadgaonsheri constituency, defended himself against allegations of involvement in the accident, saying, “On the day of the Porsche accident, I openly addressed the press and clarified the facts. The investigation has revealed no connection to me.”
He alleged that Andhare and her party are repeatedly using the incident as a political weapon to tarnish his image. “Andhare did not express any sympathy for the deceased youth or contact me when the incident occurred. Now, sensing the possible defeat of their candidate, they have resorted to raising the issue on the final day of campaigning. However, the people of Vadgaonsheri constituency are wise and understand the dirty politics being played,” Tingre said.
The MLA also took a sharp dig at Andhare’s selective activism, urging her to show the same zeal for justice in other pressing matters. “If Sushmatai truly has compassion, she should raise her voice for victims of domestic abuse, like the woman who had to plead for justice at the Chief Minister’s meeting after suffering mental harassment from her in-laws,” he remarked.
The Porsche accident, which had earlier sparked outrage, has resurfaced as a contentious issue during the final leg of electioneering. With both sides exchanging heated words, the battle for the Vadgaonsheri constituency continues to draw attention as voters prepare to decide on polling day.
