Pune: MLA Sunil Tingre Shares Progress on 150-Crore Lohgaon Water Project, Promises Relief by 2025

Lohgaon, 14th November 2024: Sunil Tingre, the sitting MLA and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, addressed the citizens of Lohgaon today, discussing the progress on key issues affecting the Vadgaonsheri Constituency. Notably, he provided updates on the long-standing water supply problem in the area, which he has been actively working to resolve.
Tingre highlighted that after persistent efforts with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), a 150-crore equitable water supply scheme has been approved to address the water shortage in Lohgaon. He assured the residents that the project is progressing swiftly and that the water issue would be permanently resolved within the next year.
The project will utilise a water quota of 1.5 TMC approved from the Bhama Askhed Dam, but due to the absence of essential water supply lines, residents have faced inconsistent water distribution. Tingre shared that after further follow-up with Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar, the PMC also approved an additional water supply scheme worth Rs 230 crore for the Lohgaon-Wagholi area.
Of this amount, Rs 150 crore will be allocated specifically for Lohgaon. The plan includes laying 250 km of water supply lines to serve a population of 2,32,000 by 2052. As of now, nearly 80 km of these lines have been installed, and 13 water tanks are set to be constructed, with a Rs 56 crore tender already approved. Additionally, a 20-lakh-litre capacity water tank is being built in Dhanori at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore.
Tingre assured the residents that once the project is completed in the next 18 months, the water supply problem affecting 1,12,000 people in Lohgaon will be resolved, bringing lasting relief to the area.
