Rs 13 Lakh Worth of Foreign Liquor Seized in Pune During Election Code of Conduct Period

Junnar, 14th November 2024: In a significant operation during the Model Code of Conduct period for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, the Maharashtra State Excise Department’s Pune Division seized foreign liquor worth Rs 13 lakh at Otur in Junnar Taluka, Pune District.

On 13th November, the Excise team acted on a tip-off regarding the illegal storage and sale of foreign liquor, wine, and beer at the Otur Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) Bus Stand. Upon raiding the location, the team recovered 100 boxes of foreign liquor, 125 boxes of beer, and 37 boxes of wine, totalling 262 boxes valued at Rs 13,20,420.

A case has been filed against Mayur Purushottam Tambe in connection with the illegal activity. The operation was led by Flying Squad Excise Inspector Devdatta Pote, with support from Sub-Inspectors YM Chavan and PA Thackeray, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sanjay Sathe, and Constables Sarvashri Chavan, Amar Kamble, Jaydas Date, Anil Dangat, and Sharad Handgar.
