Nigdi, 9th October 2023: Frustration over prolonged water supply issues in Nigdi, specifically in Ward No. 13, Yamunanagar, has led to a unique ‘tea-biscuit’ protest. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) organized this protest during a public meeting at the regional office in Nigdi.

Residents have been grappling with low water pressure for several days, with some areas enduring this problem for a whole month. Despite repeated complaints and discussions in public meetings, the water supply situation remains unresolved.

Complaints to the water supply authorities have yielded no results, leaving citizens exasperated. The root cause of the issue seems to be the diversion of water to other areas, depriving Nigdi, Yamunanagar and Sector 22 residents of their rightful supply.

During the public meeting, MNS leader Sachin Chikhale took a novel approach to draw attention to the matter. He served tea and biscuits to government officers, emphasizing the urgent need for a smoother water supply.

The protest has also issued a stern ultimatum to the water supply department, giving them seven days to rectify the situation. Sachin Chikhale, the MNS city president, warned of escalating the agitation if their demands are not met promptly.
