Pune: MNS Party Workers Arrested For Vandalising Amazon Warehouse in Kondhwa

Pune, December 29, 2020: Kondhwa police have arrested eight Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party workers for vandalizing the warehouse of e-commerce giant Amazon in Kondhwa Budruk. They have been remanded in police custody for one day.

The arrested persons have been identified as Amit Ashok Jagtap (40), Saurabh Deepak Tillekar (22), Rohit Shahu Sonawane (30), Mayur Prakash Jagtap (27), Akash Sadhu Awate (24), Akshay Suresh Jagtap (25), Mayur Shantaram Chavan (28) and Nikhil Shantaram Jagtap (27), resident of Kondhwa Budruk.

Vijay Omkarnath Telang (43), resident of Shankarsheth Road, has lodged a complaint in this regard. According to police, the accused went to the Amazon Service Pvt. Ltd. warehouse despite the restrictive order. The accused had MNS flags in their hands. They also vandalized the property.

MNS had demanded that the Marathi language should be included on Amazon’s website. Initially, the demand for MNS was ignored by Amazon. So the MNS became aggressive. In Mumbai, MNS activists painted Amazon billboards. In some places, panels were taken down. The case had gone to court. MNS president Raj Thackeray was also issued a notice by the Dindoshi court in Mumbai. After that, the MNS became more aggressive.

Earlier, MNS activists also vandalized the Amazon office in Mumbai. After that, the police had registered a case against the MNS activists. They were arrested and produced in the court at Andheri. The court remanded the MNS activists in police custody for one day.
