Pune, December 26, 2020: The dispute between Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Amazon is growing. After the notice was issued to MNS president Raj Thackeray, MNS activists became aggressive and Amazon’s office in Kondhwa was vandalized yesterday. The activists shouted slogans like ‘Marathi Nai and Amazon Nai’ (No Marathi, No Amazon).

Notice to Raj Thackeray

Amazon has gone to court against the Marathi language campaign started by MNS. After this, Dindoshi court in Mumbai has issued notice to MNS president Raj Thackeray. The court has ordered Raj Thackeray and some MNS office-bearers to appear in court on January 5.

After the court sent the notice, the MNS said it would stick to its position and warned Amazon that it would have to pay a heavy price.

What is the controversy?

MNS has started a campaign to make Marathi language options available on Amazon. MNS leader Akhil Chitre had suggested that Amazon and Flipkart should launch the app in Marathi within seven days. For this, he had also visited the offices of the companies.
