Pune: MNS Workers Booked After Scuffle With PMC Commissioner; Notice Issued
Shivajinagar, 7th August 2025: The Shivajinagar Police have registered a case against more than six members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), including former corporator Kishore Shinde, following a confrontation with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner. The incident took place around 5 PM on Wednesday at the PMC Administrative Building.
Amol Shivaji Pawar (35), a resident of Gokul Nagar, filed the complaint. Those named in the case include ex-corporator Kishore Shinde, Prashant Mate, Narendra Tamboli, Avinash Jadhav, Mahesh Lad, and others. They are facing charges under BNS Sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from duty), 189 (unlawful assembly), and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act of 1951.
According to police reports, the PMC Commissioner was in a meeting from 4 PM onwards. After about an hour, MNS workers led by Shinde entered his office and began arguing and causing a disturbance. When the PMC Commissioner, speaking in Hindi, asked them to leave, the situation escalated. The workers reportedly insulted him for not speaking Marathi, called him an outsider, and threatened to beat him at his home. A total of 10 to 12 people were involved in the incident. They also threatened to make them (IAS officers Naval Kishore Ram who is PMC Commissioner and Additional Commissioner Prithviraj BP) leave Maharashtra.
The FIR also mentions that the group climbed onto a closed PMC building gate and shouted slogans, defying orders from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch). The Shivajinagar Police have served notices to the individuals involved. Further investigation and action are underway.
