Pune: Moneylender Arrested For Charging 10% Interest Per Month On Loan

Pune, 24th April 2022: The officials from Crime Branch Unit 2 of Pune city police have arrested a man for illegally lending money and charging interest at the rate of 10 per cent per month. Borrower’s signed cheques and blank stamp papers have been confiscated from him.

 

A case has been registered against him at Dattawadi police station under the Maharashtra Money-Lending (Regulation) Act. The arrested person is identified as Bharat Babu Lalji Unecha (36), a resident of Upper Indiranagar, Bibwewadi.

 

The Crime Branch officers had come to know about the lender who was illegally recovering money from the citizens by giving loans at a 10% interest rate. Accordingly, the team set a trap and arrested Unecha, a moneylender engaged in the business of selling clothes.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of DCP (crime) Srinivas Ghadge, ACP Gajanan Tompe and Senior Police Inspector Krantikumar Patil. The team included PSI Sanjay Gaikwad, Rajendra Patole and policemen Mohsin Sheikh, Sanjay Jadhav, Sadhana Tamhane, Uttam Taru, Nikhil Jadhav, Mitesh Chormole and Nagnath Rakh.
