Tathawade, 24th June 2026: A woman and her two children were found dead inside their home in Tathawade on Wednesday, prompting an investigation by the Wakad Police into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The deceased have been identified as Kalpana Bipin Suryawanshi (35), her daughter Shubhashree (17), and her son Dadu (10). The family resided in a housing society near G.G. International School.

Police were alerted to the incident after information about the deaths reached local authorities. A team from Wakad Police Station, Pimpri Chinchwad police, immediately visited the residence and carried out preliminary investigations at the scene.

Initial findings suggest that the children may have consumed a poisonous substance before their deaths. Investigators are also examining the possibility that the mother subsequently took her own life. However, police have not ruled out any angle and are awaiting forensic and medical reports before reaching a final conclusion.

Sources involved in the investigation said financial difficulties faced by the family are being examined as a possible factor, although officials stressed that the motive behind the incident has not yet been established.

The bodies were shifted to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital for post-mortem examination. The medical report is expected to provide crucial information regarding the cause and manner of death.

Meanwhile, an accidental death report (ADR) has been registered at Wakad Police Station, and further inquiries are underway.

Police Inspector Ashok Kadlag of Wakad Police Station said the exact cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem findings and completion of the investigation.

Authorities are continuing to collect evidence and record statements as part of the probe.
