Pune: Ketan Agarwal Murder Case Takes Fresh Turn as Police Trace Mystery Mobile Phone to Third Person
Lonavala/Pune, 24th June 2026: The investigation into the death of Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn, with the Pune Rural Police Crime Branch questioning a third person in connection with the case.
The individual, identified as Neeraj Kumar, has been brought in for interrogation as investigators seek to determine whether he had any knowledge of or involvement in the events surrounding the alleged murder.
The development comes as police continue to probe the role of the two main accused — Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary — who are already in custody.
Sources familiar with the investigation said officers examining digital evidence discovered that the mobile phone allegedly used by Chetan on the day of the incident was not registered in his name. The device reportedly belonged to Neeraj Kumar, who is believed to have worked under Chaudhary.
According to investigators, Chetan is suspected of deliberately leaving his personal mobile phone at home before travelling to Lohagad Fort, where Ketan Agarwal lost his life. Instead, he allegedly carried Neeraj’s phone during the trip.
Police officials are analysing call records and other electronic evidence, which reportedly indicate that Chetan remained in regular contact with Siya Goyal on the day of the incident through the borrowed handset.
Investigators are now focusing on how and why Neeraj’s phone came to be used and whether he was aware of its alleged use in the events leading up to Ketan’s death. His statements are expected to help police establish a clearer timeline and uncover additional details about the alleged conspiracy.
Senior Crime Branch officials said the investigation remains ongoing, and all possible angles are being examined. Authorities are also reviewing technical evidence and witness statements as they work to piece together the circumstances surrounding Ketan Agarwal’s death at Lohagad Fort.
Police have not yet disclosed whether Neeraj Kumar will be treated as a witness or a suspect, and further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing interrogation.
