Pune: ‘Movement of Calm’ Global Walkathon by Sadhu Vaswani Mission Inspires Forgiveness and Inner Peace
Camp, 26th July 2025: In an inspiring show of unity, over 800 Punekars braved early morning rains to participate in the global walkathon ‘Movement of Calm’, organized by the Sadhu Vaswani Mission’s youth wing, Bridge Builders, on Saturday. Held simultaneously in Pune, Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, and New York, the walkathon marked the lead-up to Global Forgiveness Day, celebrated annually on August 2, the birth anniversary of spiritual leader Dada J.P. Vaswani.
In Pune, the 3-km walk began at 6:30 AM from the Sadhu Vaswani Institute of Management Studies (SVIMS) and wound through the lush green lanes of Koregaon Park. Despite heavy rainfall at dawn, the skies cleared just in time, lending what many called a “miraculous calm” to the spiritual walk.
“Sometimes, when you’re doing something meaningful, everything aligns,” said Dilip Gopwani, a participant. “It felt like the universe supported this walk.”
Participants came from all walks of life — families, senior citizens, students, fitness enthusiasts, and corporate teams from Sagitec Corp., JetSynthesis, Symbiosis College, Rotary Club, Inner Wheel, and RSS — all united in the spirit of letting go of emotional baggage.
A Walk of Emotional Wellness
The walkathon was more than just a physical activity — it was an immersive emotional wellness experience. Before the walk began, Didi Krishna Kumari, spiritual head of Sadhu Vaswani Mission, led participants through a forgiveness meditation, encouraging them to release grudges and burdens from within.
“Suppression, expression, and holding on create havoc within us. Identifying what must be released—and letting it go—is the key to inner peace,” she said before lighting the ceremonial torch and flagging off the walk.
The highlight of the event was the “Let-it-Go” experience. Participants wrote down emotional burdens—guilt, anger, fear—and placed them into a symbolic ‘Let-it-Go’ box at the finish line. The first note was dropped by Didi Krishna herself, setting a powerful example.
“I used to believe forgiveness was impossible. But dropping that note made me feel lighter. I actually forgave,” shared a foreign attendee.
A Journey Through 8 Zones of Calm
The route was creatively divided into eight emotional zones:
- Drop Zone
- Let Go Lane
- The Chill Stop
- Vibe Checkpoint
- No Baggage Bend
- Reset Route
- The Shift Stop
- Unload Station
Each participant received a sheet of emotion stickers—representing feelings like anxiety, guilt, jealousy, and sadness. At each zone, they symbolically released an emotion by placing the sticker on a board and blowing soap bubbles — a unique visual metaphor for emotional release.
“It’s the first walk where mental and emotional health were at the core. The interactivity, the symbolism — it all worked wonders,” said Ashish, a young participant.
Participants were also given walkathon T-shirts, raincoats, and served a nutritious breakfast at the end.
Spiritual Legacy and Social Purpose
All proceeds from registration will go towards free pediatric heart surgeries for underprivileged children, aligning with the Sadhu Vaswani Mission’s long-standing humanitarian work.
After the walk, volunteers from the Adar Poonawalla Clean City Initiative (APCCI) swiftly cleaned the grounds, maintaining the mission’s values of compassion and civic responsibility.
With over 60 centers worldwide, the Sadhu Vaswani Mission continues to work in education, healthcare, women’s welfare, and disaster relief. The Movement of Calm not only raised awareness about forgiveness but also demonstrated how inner peace can pave the way for global peace.
As Global Forgiveness Day approaches on August 2, the Mission invites everyone to participate in the Moment of Calm at 2 PM, by pausing for two minutes to forgive, be forgiven, and radiate peace.
