Pune: MP Shrirang Barne Accuses Pimpri-Chinchwad Police, BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe Defends Home Minister Fadnavis

Pimpri Chinchwad, 25th December 2024: A war of words has erupted within the Mahayuti (grand alliance) after Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) MP Shrirang Barne leveled serious allegations against the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe has now responded to Barne’s claims, expressing confidence in the leadership of Maharashtra’s Home Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.
Barne, in a letter addressed to the Police Commissioner, criticized the conduct of police personnel in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. The MP alleged that the police were not acknowledging complaints from common citizens and were failing to appreciate their concerns. This strong statement from Barne has now ignited a political debate, particularly within the Mahayuti, where the BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) are part of the same alliance.
Responding to Barne’s accusations, Gorkhe reassured the MP, stating, “Shrirang Barne is part of our grand alliance. He is working alongside us, and I will personally speak to him about this issue to understand where the problem lies. The state’s Chief Minister and Home Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, is more than capable in his role. I don’t believe such issues should arise under his leadership.” Gorkhe’s remarks, which were made during a media interaction in Pimpri-Chinchwad, were aimed at addressing Barne’s concerns while also affirming confidence in the state government’s leadership.
The controversy sparked by Barne’s allegations has led to discussions within the Mahayuti, with some political observers suggesting that there may be deeper tensions within the alliance. Sources in the police department have hinted that Barne’s ego may have been hurt in a specific case, which led to the MP’s outspoken criticism. However, the exact details of this case are still unclear, and speculation continues regarding its origins.
