Pune: MP Supriya Sule Calls for Safety Audit of Hoardings and Action Against Unauthorized Installations
Pune, 1st June 2023: Expressing deep concern over recent incidents of billboards collapsing in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and other areas within the district, MP Supriya Sule has demanded immediate action to ensure public safety. In her statement, Sule emphasized the need for a comprehensive safety audit of billboards and stern measures against unauthorized installations.
Highlighting a specific incident where an iron billboard collapsed during heavy rains in Hinjawadi, Sule pointed out the lack of information regarding the authorization status of such advertisement boards by the Municipal Corporation. She urged Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil to promptly initiate a thorough investigation and order relevant agencies to remove any unauthorized advertisement boards that pose a potential risk to public safety.
Sule further expressed apprehension regarding the dangerous manner in which several advertisement boards have been erected, raising concerns about the possibility of future accidents. To address this issue, she called for reports from the Municipal Commissioner of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, as well as the Collector, to ascertain the authorization status of the billboards. If authorized, Sule urged the relevant authorities to conduct a comprehensive security audit to ensure their structural integrity.
The MP’s demands underscore the importance of public safety and the need for stringent measures to prevent any untoward incidents caused by unstable or unauthorized billboards. By urging for a safety audit and action against unauthorized installations, Sule aims to protect the well-being of the local community and prevent potential accidents that may arise from negligence or poor maintenance of advertisement structures.
