Pune: MPSC Exam Postponed For The Fifth Time, Students Stage Protest

Pune, 11th March 2021: Sit-in agitation was seen at Navi Peth area in Pune as the students studying for Maharashtra Public State Commission (MPSC) become aggressive after the pre-service examination to be held on March 14 (coming Sunday) was postponed for the fifth time. The examination was postponed owing to the rising cases of Corona in the state.

Along with Pune students, students from Kolhapur, Nagpur, and Aurangabad too agitated against the decision.

The examination was to be held on coming Sunday (March 14, 2021). The students were angry as the decision was taken just two days prior to the examination.

Students while talking to Punekar News said, “we have come from Marathwada region. We are paying for rent and other expenses, with this sudden decision, it will affect our career.”

Another student said, “Few of us might become ineligible if the postponement of the examination continues. We are absolutely upset over the decision.”

“We believe that there might some other reason behind it. It is certainly not simply due to the Corona effect”, said yet another student. Students spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, police had to restore order by the means of mild lathi-charge to disburse the crowd. The agitation is going on at the site for the last couple of hours.

Pune has been an epi centre for students studying for various competitive examinations. Majority of the students hail from the Marathwada and Vidharba region.
