Pune: MPSC Pass Candidate Dies By Suicide Due To Depression Over Non-Appointment

Hadapsar, 3rd July 2021: A 24-year-old youth allegedly died by suicide due to non-appointment even after passing the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exam. Police said that he was under stress due to unemployment.

The deceased has been identified as Swapnil Sunil Lonakar, a resident of Ganganagar locality in Fursungi. Swapnil had a degree in civil engineering.

According to police, the incident took place around 4.30 pm on Wednesday at his residence.  Swapnil’s father Sunil Lonakar has a small printing press business of making bill books in Shaniwar Peth. He and his wife both run related businesses.

On Wednesday morning, Swapnil’s parents went out for work as usual. When his sister came home at 4.30 pm, she found him hanging in his room. She informed her parents. Swapnil was later shifted to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Swapnil had been preparing for the MPSC exams since the completion of his education. He had passed the MPSC’s pre-2019 and main exams. However, he had not been interviewed for a year and a half. He also appeared for the MPSC exam in 2020. He passed the pre-exam, not the main exam because of the corona.
