Pune: MSRTC Coming Back on Track After Months of Lockdown

Pune, August 30, 2020: After a gap of almost 200 days, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is now coming back on track. The transport body has earned Rs 93.17 lakh from passengers only in a week (from August 21 to 28).

 

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the buses were stopped from plying in the state. The transport services resumed from August 21.

 

As per information shared by Divisional Traffic Manager Dnyaneshwar Ranavare, “The buses are plying after sanitizing and each bus is carrying only 22 passengers. Passengers have been asked to wear masks compulsorily. Taking safety measures, only one bus is allowed to stand on the platform.”

 

“The buses started plying from August 21 in intra-district and inter-district. On a single day, 213 buses are plying and conducting 850 trips. In one week 1,21,918 passengers travelled and the revenue generated Rs 93.17 lakh. The Shivneri and semi-luxury buses are running from Pune to Thane, Borivali, Dadar and Nagpur, Shivshahi buses are running from Pune to Aurangabad, Nashik, Shirdi, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Sangli, Miraj, Solapur. Also, ordinary buses are plying for Baramati, Bhor, Saswad, Indapur, Alephata, Shirur, Bhimashankar, Satara, Mahad and Fauji Ambawade,” informed Ranavare.

 

However, due to protests by Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, the buses running between Pune and Solapur will be cancelled for 48 hours.
