Pune, 12th December 2023: In a bid to streamline ticket payments and eliminate the need for cash transactions, Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has introduced an online payment system for State Transport (ST) buses. Passengers can now conveniently pay their fares using a ‘QR code,’ marking a significant step towards cashless transactions in public transportation.

The implementation of the ‘QR code’ system aims to put an end to controversies arising from change money issues and enhance convenience for both passengers and the corporation. With smartphones being ubiquitous, the new system allows passengers to make online payments for their ST bus tickets.

The ‘QR code’ payment facility has been rolled out in ST buses operating from all depots within the Pune division. Recognizing the prevalence of digital transactions in various aspects of daily life, MSRTC aims to provide a seamless and cashless experience for passengers during bus travel.

In the next phase of this initiative, passengers will have the option to purchase tickets using debit and credit cards, further reducing the reliance on cash payments. This move is expected to benefit both passengers and the corporation by minimizing cash handling and disputes related to change money.

To address any concerns or issues faced by passengers while using the online payment system, MSRTC has launched a helpline number ‘400.’ In addition to the information provided, you can also get assistance by sending an email to [email protected]. Passengers can reach out for assistance in case of amount deductions without ticket issuance. The helpline is operational 24 hours, ensuring that passengers receive prompt support.
