Pune: Mucormycosis Disease Included Under The Municipal Health Scheme; Patients Can Get Aid Up To Rs 3 Lakh For Treatment

Pune, 19th May 2021: As the number of patients with Mucormycosis disease is increasing in the city, it has decided to include the treatment of disease under the municipal health scheme. With this, the patients can get aid up to Rs 3 Lakh for treatment and treatment can be taken in 140 hospitals in the city, said the mayor Murlidhar Mohol.

 

The municipal health scheme known as ‘Shahri Garib arogya yojana’ is being implemented by the municipal corporation for the people who have less than Rs 1 lakh income. Currently, there are 20,000 beneficiaries under this scheme. For treatment, the aid amount is up to 1 lakh and for the serious disease, the help is provided up to 3 lakh. If suffering from the disease, the beneficiary can get help up to Rs 3 lakh under this scheme, said mayor Mohol.

 

The municipal corporation is considering activating a treatment centre on Mucormycosis disease, at Dalvi hospital and Kamla Nehru hospital in the city. It will require experts for these centres and a decision will be taken after a review will be done by the doctors.

 

Currently, there are 167 patients with Mucormycosis disease. Out of which 86 patients belong to Pune city. As of now, 13 patients have lost their life due to the disease. The Mayor also appealed to the citizens to be careful about the disease.
