Pune-Mumbai Deccan Queen Express Encounters Smoke Scare, Passengers Safe

Pune, 20th April 2023: Today morning, smoke started coming from the air-conditioned coaches of the Pune-Mumbai Deccan Queen Express near Thakurwadi station. The train was immediately stopped and repaired, preventing any accidents. The incident caused a delay of 25 minutes, and the train finally reached Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai.
The train left Pune for Mumbai at 7:15 am and made a technical halt at Monkey Hill before proceeding to Karjat. Smoke started coming from the air-conditioned compartments C1 and C2 of the train during this leg of the journey. Passengers complained about the smoke, even though the issue in the air-conditioned coaches was rectified. There have been similar incidents in the past, including a fire in the women’s compartment of the train last October, though there were no casualties.
According to Shivaji Sutar, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, Mumbai, there was a problem with the Deccan Queen’s brake pads, causing the smoke. It was immediately repaired and the train proceeded to its destination.
