Lonavala, 18th March 2024: On Monday, an overhead wire along the Pune-Mumbai railway line between Malvli and Kamshet stations, near Lonavala railway station, suffered a breakage, leading to significant disruptions in train services during the evening hours.

The incident was first noticed by a vigilant train driver between Kamshet and Malvali stations around 4 p.m., who promptly reported the issue to the railway control room. Subsequently, railway authorities swiftly halted train operations on the affected route by implementing a technical block to address the overhead wire damage.

Repair work commenced immediately, and it took approximately two hours to complete the necessary repairs. However, the disruption resulted in delays for six express trains and three local trains traveling along this route.

Dr. Milind Hirve, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Central Railway, Pune Division, confirmed the technical fault and assured that necessary measures were taken to rectify the issue promptly. He mentioned that train services between Lonavala and Pune were temporarily impacted due to the technical fault but have since been restored to normal operation.
