Pune: Mundhwa Residents Without Water for 7 Days; Venkatesh Flora Society Struggles
Reported by Siddhi Dharmadhikari
Mundhwa, 10th April 2025: A shocking incident has come to light from Venkatesh Flora Society in Mundhwa, near Hadapsar Railway Station, where residents have been left without water supply for the past seven days. Despite repeated complaints, there has been no resolution or progress from the authorities.
The society, which houses 140 flats, has been forced to rely on private water tankers due to the absence of supply from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Speaking on the issue, Society Secretary Paul Anthony said, “There are several Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plants and ongoing construction projects in the area that seem to be receiving adequate water, while common residents are left to suffer.” He further added, “Last year, we were spending up to ₹2 lakh per month to purchase water from tankers. We even have proper bills to prove it.”
Speaking to Punekar News, Sandeep Jain, a resident of Venkatesh Flora Society, expressed frustration over the lack of response. “Despite repeated follow-ups, there has been no clear communication from the authorities,” he said.
When contacted, Nandkishor Jagtap, Head of the PMC Water Supply Department, stated, “A formal complaint must be registered for us to take any action. If a complaint has been lodged and the department has failed to act, then it is our fault, and we will look into it immediately.”
