Pune: Municipal Approval To Exclude Fursungi, Uruli Devachi; Site Of Wasteland Will Remain Within Limits Of PMC

Pune, 9th February 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the resolution to exclude Uruli Devachi and Fursungi villages from the municipal limits. Such a resolution was made in the City Improvement Committee of the Municipal Corporation. Despite the opposition of the villagers to exclude the villages, this proposal has been approved.
However, the site of the wasteland will remain within the limits of the municipal corporation. After the approval of the general assembly, such a resolution will be sent to the state government. However, this decision of the municipal corporation is likely to have a strong impact.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde decided to exclude both Uruli Devachi and Fursungi villages from the municipal corporation a few days ago. He was strongly opposed by the villagers of both these villages. However, the state council had ordered that the resolution to exclude these two villages should be approved in the main meeting and sent to the state government. Therefore, such a proposal was made by the municipal administration in the city improvement committee meeting. Approving this proposal, it was decided to exclude both villages.
In 2017, the state government included 11 villages in the Pune Municipal Corporation. It included the two villages of Fursungi and Uruli Devachi. After these villages came under the Municipal Corporation, about Rs 250 crores have been spent in these villages in the last five years. About Rs 42 crore will be spent in these two villages in the Rs 392 crore sewage disposal project. Also, the TP scheme of 371 hectares has been approved by the government in both of these villages. When the TP scheme is being implemented in the Pune Municipal Corporation after 33 years, these two villages are going out of bounds, so there is going to be a huge loss.
Meanwhile, in these two villages of Fursungi and Uruli Devachi, property tax has been wrongly levied, resulting in arrears of lakhs of rupees. Citizens complained about it. After that, it was decided to exclude villages.
