Pune, 10th June 2023: In a spirited celebration of the upcoming G-20 meetings in Pune, the Pune Municipal Bicycle Club organized a magnificent cycle tour. This event aimed to raise awareness about India’s presidency of the G-20 summit and promote the message of environmental consciousness through the slogan “Ride the environment.”
The cycle tour commenced with great fanfare as Vikas Dhakne, Additional Municipal Commissioner of the Pune Municipal Corporation, inaugurated the bicycle rally.
A staggering turnout of around 2200 cycling enthusiasts eagerly embraced this noble initiative. Embarking on their journey, these cycling heroes pedaled through the city, tracing a route that passed Pune Manpa Bhawan, Modern Cafe Chowk, Jungli Maharaj Road, Tilak Road, Abhinav College Chowk, Bajirao Road, Shaniwar Wada, and ultimately returning to Manpa Bhawan. Participants from diverse age groups, including a significant number of enthusiastic children, added to the vibrant atmosphere of the event. In recognition of their participation, all cyclists were presented with esteemed G-20 commemorative medals.
The ride was expertly led by Suresh Pardeshi, the Chief Coordinator of the Pune Municipal Cycle Club, while Neha Bhavsar guided the women’s group with great aplomb. The occasion was graced by the presence of numerous esteemed officers and employees, including Chetna Kerure, Deputy Commissioner of the Sports Department, Madhav Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Encroachment Department, and Mangesh Dighe, Environment Officer.
This grand cycle tour not only showcased the city’s commitment to the G-20 meetings but also demonstrated Pune’s dedication to environmental sustainability.
