Pune Municipal Corporation Demolishes Illegal Constructions In Katraj
Katraj, February 5, 2021: The officials of Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Building Development Department on Friday took action against the illegal construction of buildings located in Jadhav Nagar in Katraj. The illegal construction work did not stop despite notice given by the civic authorities.
A total of about four to four and a half square feet of built area, including three three-storeyed buildings and one four-storeyed building, have been demolished by the authorities.
The action against the illegal structures was taken under the supervision of Superintendent Engineer Yuvraj Deshmukh, Executive Engineer Namdev Gambhire by Deputy Engineer Pratap Dhayagude, along with Junior Engineers Prashant More, Hemant Kolekar, and Sandesh Patil.
The buildings were demolished using two excavators, four breakers, two gas cutters, and with the help of the staff. “The action was taken as the unauthorized construction continued even after receiving a notice. Other unauthorized constructions in the area will also be dealt with in stages,” said Junior Engineer Sandesh Patil.
“The action was taken within eight days of notice merely out of revenge. We are not the only ones who constructed unauthorized buildings in the area,” alleged Sachin Kindre, the owner of the illegal structures.
Another local from the area, Swapnil Gole said, “The civic authorities should take actions against all the unauthorized and illegal constructions in the area and not just target a few.”
