Pune Municipal Elections: BJP-NCP Face-Off Intensifies in Ward 9 Sus–Baner–Pashan
Baner, 5th January 2026: As campaigning intensifies ahead of the Pune Municipal Corporation elections, Ward No. 9 (Sus–Baner–Pashan) has emerged as one of the most closely watched constituencies.
The BJP has fielded Lahu Balwadkar, Rohini Chimte, Ganesh Kalamkar and Mayuri Kokate from Ward 9. According to party sources, internal survey reports conducted by the BJP consistently placed Lahu Balwadkar in the lead. His strong public connect, loyalty to the party and visible work in the ward have earned him the confidence of the BJP’s senior leadership.
Support from the RSS cadre, a disciplined campaign strategy and backing from senior leaders, including state minister Chandrakant Patil, have further strengthened Balwadkar’s campaign. Political circles suggest that a section of voters in the ward is viewing his leadership with expectation, citing organisational strength and continuity.
