Pune-Nagar Highway to See Major Traffic Changes Starting December 31 for Vijaystambh Ceremony
Pune, 30th December 2024: A Vijaystambh greeting program will be held at Koregaon Bhima on January 1, 2025, with a large number of followers expected to attend. To ensure smooth traffic flow and avoid congestion on the Pune-Nagar highway, significant traffic changes will be implemented starting from 2 pm on Tuesday, December 31.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch) Amol Zende has urged drivers to cooperate with the changes. “Billboards with information about the traffic changes will be placed at various locations. Drivers are requested to follow the instructions carefully,” Zende said. The revised traffic plan will be in effect until midnight on January 1, 2025.
Traffic Diversions
- Vehicles traveling from Pune to Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar) are advised to take the Kharadi bypass road and continue via Mundhwa, Magarpatta Chowk, Pune-Solapur road, Kedgaon Chauphula, Nhavare, and Shirur.
- Vehicles heading to Alandi and Chakan via Solapur road should proceed through Hadapsar, Magarpatta Chowk, and Kharadi bypass road towards Vishrantwadi, and then continue to Alandi and Chakan.
- Vehicles from Mumbai to Pune should follow the route via Vadgaon Maval, Chakan, Khed, Manchar, Narayangaon, and Alephata. Light vehicles traveling from Mumbai to the city should take the route via Vadgaon Maval, Chakan, Khed, Pabal, and Shirur.
- Drivers traveling from Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, and Katraj should take the route through Mantarwadi Phata, Magarpatta Chowk, and then proceed to Shirur from Hadapsar via Kedgaon Chauphula.
Traffic Restrictions and Road Closures
- The Alandi-Tulapur bridge over the Indrayani river has been closed to heavy traffic, and only light vehicles will be permitted to enter from this bridge.
- Heavy vehicles traveling to Wagholi via Vishrantwadi and Lohgaon will be diverted as part of the traffic restrictions.

To ease traffic congestion, heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering several city areas. The banned routes include:
- Theur Phata in Loni Kalbhor
- Harris Bridge in Khadki
- Bopkhel Phata in Vishrantwadi
- Baner Radha Chowk
- Navale Bridge in Sinhagad Road area
- Katraj Chowk
- Khadi Machine Chowk in Kondhwa
- Mantarwadi Phata in Fursungi
- Markal Bridge
