Pune: National Defence Academy Celebrates 75 Years with WIZQUIZ: Forging Joint Military Leadership
Pune, 29th October 2023: Commemorating 75 glorious years of crafting Military Leaders of Indian Armed Forces, the National Defence Academy (NDA) as part of the theme “Forging Joint Military Leadership” organized WIZQUIZ, an all India Inter School Quiz Competition.
The competition was based on the theme ‘India’ and tested the participants on their knowledge and intellect in key areas such as military history, current affairs, sports, science and entertainment. The event was conducted in a Hybrid Mode wherein first three rounds were organised in an online mode and the Grand Finale was held at Salaria Square, National Defence Academy on 28 Oct 2023.
To ensure wide spread participation across the country the academy collaborated with leading educational organisations of the country vis a vis, Central Board of Secondary Education, Council for Indian School Certificate Exam, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghtan, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, and other leading institutes. As a result of the same, the event received an overwhelming response and a total of 9192 teams registered for the event.
Post culmination of the preliminary rounds, the top three teams from each semi-final qualified for the Grand Finale. The quiz was conducted by Mr Venky Sinivasan, a renowned Quiz Master in the quizzing circle. The inaugural question of the grand finale was put forth by Lt Gen Anil Chauhan, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Chief of Defence Staff of The Indian Armed Forces. Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, AVSM, NM, Commandant, National Defence Academy was the chief guest for the Grand Finale.
The event culminated with a prize distribution ceremony where trophies and medals were conferred to the winning teams. Sunbeam Lahartara, Varanasi & Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidyamandir, Bengaluru bagged the Second Runners Up & First Runners Up Position respectively.
Dr. Virendra Swarup Education Centre, Avadhpuri, Kanpur emerged as the overall champions in the closely fought competition and bagged the prestigious WIZQUIZ trophy.
