Pune: NCP Official Vandana Mohite Arrested For Altercation And Assault On Police At Kasurdi Toll Road
Pune, 16th June 2023: Late on Thursday night, Vandana Mohite, an official of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) from Daund, was arrested by Yawat police following a heated altercation and physical assault on police personnel at Kasurdi toll road in Pune.
Mohite, who serves as the president of NCP’s Baramati Lok Sabha Doctor Cell, allegedly engaged in a quarrel with the police while they were on duty, blocking traffic towards Pune during the Ashadhi Wari on June 15.
The incident occurred when Police Naik Nitin Kohak was deployed at the location, and Mohite reportedly initiated a confrontation with the police, subsequently assaulting them. She also allegedly removed barricades, obstructing government work in the process. Yawat Police Station registered a case against Vandana Mohite under sections 353, 323, and 332 of the Indian Penal Code.
Police officials later apprehended Mohite from her residence during the late hours of Thursday. The police are conducting further investigations into the matter to gather additional information and evidence related to the incident.
