Pune: NDRF Officers And Jawans Receive Training On Radiation Safety Ahead Of G-20 Event
Pune, 14th April 2023: The Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India collaborated with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to organise a two-day training seminar on Radiation Safety and Emergency Preparedness. The seminar was conducted at the 05 BN NDRF location in Pune, Maharashtra. The program was initiated in view of the upcoming G-20 event, where such training is essential for officers and rescuers to ensure the safety of citizens.
The program was inaugurated by Saras Seth, Member Secretary, CMG-DAE, and was conducted under the guidance of senior scientists and experts from the Department of Atomic Energy, including RKB Yadav, Dr. Shashank Saindane, Aniriddha Chandra, and Teja Ram Meena.

The training covered various topics, including radiation detection and measurement, radiological safety aspects, radioactive contamination and decontamination, RDD/IND/RED, and identification of suspected materials.
Furthermore, a table-top and mock exercise on Radiological Emergency was conducted, taking into account the upcoming G-20 scenario.
A.K. Nayak, Chairman, CMG-DAE, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He apprised the attendees about the importance of nuclear energy in the development of the nation.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Santosh Bahadur Singh, Commandant, 05 Bn NDRF, Pune, Maharashtra. This training program will equip officers and rescuers with the necessary knowledge and skills to deal with any radiation-related emergency and ensure the safety of the citizens during the G-20 event.
