Lohgaon, 25th November 2025: A major women’s health outreach programme in Lohgaon drew an overwhelming response recently, as Shri Balaji Foundation screened nearly 500 women for breast and cervical cancer at a community health camp held at Trimurti Lawns.

The initiative was inaugurated by senior social worker Jyotitai Savardekar, in the presence of Dr. Mansing Sable, Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Charity Hospital Assistance Cell (Pune District), Dr. Mayur Khade, Santosh Kunbhar, and other office-bearers.

Specialist doctors and medical staff from the Integrated Cancer Treatment and Research Centre, Wagholi, carried out a wide range of free examinations, including general health check-ups, breast thermal screening, Pap smear tests and comprehensive blood investigations.

During the camp, Dr. Mansing Sable addressed participants, highlighting the rising incidence of breast and cervical cancer among women and stressing the critical importance of early diagnosis.

Shri Balaji Foundation has been actively conducting cancer screening camps across urban and rural areas, focusing on breast, cervical and oral cancer. The organisation also runs awareness programmes in schools, colleges and women’s self-help groups, contributing significantly to public understanding of women’s health and preventive care.

“Women Must Take Initiative for Regular Screening,” says Dr. Sable. “Women, whether in cities or villages, must take the initiative to undergo cancer screening at such camps or visit their nearest government hospital. The incidence of breast and cervical cancer is rising rapidly. Early testing enables timely diagnosis and treatment, preventing the disease from becoming severe,” he added.

The foundation plans to organise more such health camps in the coming months to strengthen awareness and early detection efforts.
